At over 4,000 ft above sea level, Highlands, North Carolina is a hidden jewel. The town was founded in 1875 after its two founders, Samuel Truman Kelsey and Clinton Carter Hutchinson, drew lines from Chicago to Savannah and from New Orleans to New York City. They felt that the place where these lines met would eventually become a great trading center and commercial crossroads.

The brand for the proposed Highlands Banking Company was developed to show full-time residents and second-home residents that this bank is as “uniquely local” as the place they call home. This premium-yet-comfortable experience inspired the personality and aesthetics of the brand.
